Such is the close association between The Venkateswara Swamy temple and the city of Tirupati that very often people simply say, “I am going to Tirupathi” when it is actually to visit the temple alone. For a long time I myself thought Tirupati was the name of the temple itself. Much has been written about the iconic Tirumala Venkateswara Temple which looks down upon the city in its care from atop the Tirumala hills. It is inevitable that you too will get drawn into the devoted throngs that visit this temple. However, during my visit to Tirupati I was also determined to explore the many other delights offered by this little city. It was easy enough to find a great room to stay in, thanks to the convenience of Tirupati hotels online booking. Once in the city, amazing vistas, history and fabulous mythology await you. You van start with the Chandragiri Fort. Dating back to the 11th century, this Fort is imposing and magnificent. It is also home to the Raja Mahal Palace which houses a fabulous archaeological museum. This museum is home to intricately created sculptures made of metal and stone. There are also bronze sculptures that date back to the Chola period in Indian history. The impact of these creations is immense. However, the one thing that is guaranteed to take your breath away as well is the life-size statues of famous and powerful Vijayanagara rulers. One of the things that catch your attention right away is the typical architecture, replete with crowning towers. It is also astounding to note that the Palace has not used timber in its construction. There really is no getting away from temples when one is in Tirupati. There are temples dedicated to almost all major deities of the Hindu religion. The beautiful hills of Tirumala have the lone Shiva Temple known as Kapila Theertham. It is also home to a body of sacred water. It is an extremely good idea to use your time and do your Tirupati hotels online booking right away because this city has many more temples to offer as well. Did you know that you have to pay homage to Sri Adi Varaha Swami before you can even go up to the main temple in Tirupati? There is also the Sri Bedi Anjaneyaswami Temple which has Lord Hanuman as the presiding deity. If you are willing to travel a little distance away from Tirupati, then you can get to visit other splendid temples as well. My trip to Tirupati proved to be a spiritual and calming one. Hope yours is the same. Author Bio: Ryana Karol- I am a travel enthusiast who loves to explore scenic places in India. Choosing a comfortable hotels in Tirupatiis on my priority list.
