“Use only that which works, and take it from any place you can find it.” Bruce Lee, Tao of Jeet Kune Do According to many, one of the greatest martial artists of all time was Bruce Lee. He did not only possess incredible martial arts skills but he also had an impressive build and physique that were the envy of even hardcore bodybuilders. He did not specifically train with weights as his strength and physique was the result of his martial arts training. Hence, martial art is not just a self-defense technique but it also provides many health-related benefits. Martial arts can also improve coordination, balance, stamina, strength, flexibility, self discipline and self confidence. If you are interested to find the Best JiuJitsu Instructors in CT or Get Muay Thai Coaching in CT, then one of the best training centers available is the Renzo Gracie Training Facility (website -). It is the ideal place to learn both forms of martial arts because Brazil was and still is one of the major centers for these martial arts. Brazilian jiu-jitsu or BJJ is a martial art, combat sport, and a self defense system that includes both grappling and ground fighting techniques. BJJ originated from Kodokan Judo ground fighting fundamentals that were taught to Carlos Gracie by Master Mitsuyo Maeda. This form of Judo had one crucial difference from the older forms of Japanese ju-jitsu. It was practiced not just as a martial art but also as a sport, a method of promoting physical fitness and building character in its practitioners. Through experimentations, practices and adaptation by Carlos and Hélio Gracie from the original judo techniques, BJJ slowly evolved into a distinct martial art that it is today. They have now passed on their knowledge to other members of their family and Renzo Gracie is a direct descendent. Muay Thai is a combat sport from the muay martial art of Thailand. It basically uses stand-up striking together with different types of clinching techniques. It is a physical and mental discipline which includes combat on foot. It is also known as "The Art of Eight Limbs" because it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, shins and feet. Like BJJ, it is also associated with a good physical training and preparation as the combat sport is a full-contact fight. Muay Thai initially became popular in the 16th century when the first commercial Muay Thai gym outside Thailand was founded in 1978 in Curitiba, Brazil.
