Diwali or Deepavali is popularly know as the “Festival of Lights” this festival is celebrated in India specially in Gujarat Diwali is the most important occasion. In Gujarat Diwali is celebrated in Autumn and it occurs in the second lunar fortnight (Krishna Paksha) of the month of Ashvin (Gujarati "Aaso") and the first (bright) fortnight (Shukla Paksha) of Kartika (Guj. "Kartik"). Aaso is the last month of the Gujarati calendar, and Kartik the first.

The festival of Diwali is observed by Gujaratis before Dhanteras. On this day all Indians worship goddess Laskhmi the wealth devi by performing laskhmi pujan at their homes and offices. Gujaratis believe that if they spend money on this day by buying gold or any other thing their families will prosper throughout the year. 4) Kali Chaudash: (Aso vad 14): Kali Choudash is observed on Aso vad 14, which is the 14th dark day of Aso. The word Kali denotes black or in other words MahaKali means goddess who has victory over performing black magic. Chaudash means number 14, on this day people make vadas and serve to Hanumanji in order to get protection against ghosts and evil spirits. 5) Laskhmi Puja OR Diwali: (Aso vad 15) Aaso Amas: Diwali is observed on the on new moon day or Amas, Aso vad 15, this is the last dark day of Aso. On this day Diwali is celebrated in different parts of India by bursting crackers, lighting diyas and sending emails and greeting cards, gifts to friends and relatives. 6) Bestu Varas (Hindu New year) Kartak sud Ekam (1): Bestu Varas is actually the new year for Gujaratis which falls on (kartik sud Ekam) 7) Bhai Bij: Bhai Bij falls on the 2nd day of Kartik (Kartak sud Bij), and on this day sisters worship their brothers for long life and receive gifts from them. 8) Labh Pacham: Labh Pacham falls on 5th day of (kartak sud pacham), on this day many businessmen start new business for the year which were closed since Diwali. 9) Dev Diwali: It falls on the a5th day of Kartak, this day is very auspicious specially amongst Jains.
