Why The Google Cup Is Half-Full, Not Half-Empty!

Website Promotion
As Google has repeatedly released search algorithm updates over the past few years, two separate things have happened which can each be perceived in more than one way. First, it has seemed that with each release, more good websites have accidentally been caught in its quality control traps each time, which has been frustrating to honest owners of these internet locations. Second, more spam pages have been trapped as well, which is not a bad thing at all. The result has seen unhappy website owners affected by all the changes because the cup is being seen as half-empty rather than half-full, which is more descriptive of what actually has happened.

The Cup is Half-Empty

This has been the reaction of many about the algorithm releases that were made, each one changing Google’s method of searching just a little bit more. As the algorithms were adjusted, many immediately started changing websites in order to adjust to the reported algorithm modifications – right or wrong. Google makes adjustments and tweaks to the algorithms quite frequently with an intent to help, not harm, current users. Yet many feel 'punished' and despair that it will ever prove to be anything positive for their website.

Though the natural tendency is to complain when websites are affected, it is impossible for the changes made by Google to differentiate between really poor quality ones that do indeed need to be taken down – and those that just need some re-working to function better within the new Google guidelines. It is indeed a dilemma for some and yet certainly something that can be handled.

The Cup is Half-Full

The alternative view of all of the Google algorithm changes is that it is possible to accept the fact that with each algorithm update, there will always be somewhat of a risk of needing to make some changes in order to be in line with Google's main goal - fewer high-ranking, poor quality websites that take rank away from good websites – which should make the changes something that is worth the extra effort.

The fact that higher search engine security catches a few of the better sites off guard can be viewed as free feedback on improvements that should be made so in order to continue to be well-recognized, valuable, and good quality. All the various poor quality, spam websites, link farms or anything similar are often managed by those who avoid building a high quality appearance and would rather do a get-rich-quick poor one instead. Anyone in charge of a good, valuable internet presence should be willing to do what it takes to remain a valuable location for internet searchers.

Another way to look at all of this is that less competition is less competition, any way that it is viewed. With more low quality websites being taken down and more valuable, high-quality ones getting deserved ranking – well it is just an effort that must be given in the current global internet marketplace. If a website becomes sort of 'Google-proof' by always being up-to-date on current algorithm changes, optimization efforts will increase because of overall improved quality and therefore seen by more people. When that happens, pages get more natural backlinks, which adds even more to the quality that Google likes to see. When upper-ranking junk websites have been removed, good internet versions will be moved into the upper ranks with little effort.

The moral of the story is that website owners and managers know that whenever Google makes algorithm updates, it is time to keep up with that change or risk losing ranking authority. Change does not have to be perceived as a bad thing, especially considering the different bonuses that come with making a good website even more pleasing to the search engines. Really, benefit is the only option to see once the work has been done and is a much better alternative than continuing to battle poor quality sites using unorthodox SEO methods to excel over the good-quality competition. So that cup is half-full – not half-empty – believe it!
