Not that I am discriminating or anything, but it is a fact that smart or intelligent people tend to succeed more in the B2B lead generation business. This can be a very stressful job, one that may not be as profitable as what some people assume. But, if a person is smart enough, he can turn any challenge into an opportunity to generate more qualified sales leads. He possesses certain qualities that make people like him more effective in the marketing campaign than the others. Although all of us have varying levels of intellectual capacity, there are some common traits here that we all could emulate. And out of the many, we can focus on the five below:

Persistence – Thomas Edison failed a thousand times before he developed the incandescent bulb, but that one success made him a household name. It is the same thing with you. If you can just be more persistent in performing your B2B telemarketing duties, then you will be able to generate good B2B leads out of your business prospects. Even if the business prospects you are talking with are not that ready to make a deal, keeping up with them is a good way to ensure that the deal will go your way. And you can make that happen by being persistent.

Sets goals – in everything one does, it is done with an end in mind. As a marketer, we would want to know why we are doing things. By setting clear, measurable, and practical goals, you put yourself and your marketing team towards success in our marketing campaigns. Besides, research has shown that setting goals actually increase the productivity of your employees.

Read a lot – a person who reads a lot often are the ones with the most open minds, the most knowledgeable, as well as the most aware of the things around there. And if you are the type of reader that covers so many topics, not just in your industry, then you would be more ready to deal with any challenge thrown your way.

Self-discipline – a marketer with sufficient self-discipline would be able to do their assigned task well. This is especially useful in B2B appointment setting, where the number of tasks that you have to perform can be a real pain. They can control their efforts, redirecting them to other activities that would require even more attention.

Thinks critically – basically, these people put some effort on thinking about thinking. Rhetorically speaking, this goes along the lines of ‘you know that you know what you know’. Being aware of your own knowledge is important. It encourages critical thinking and helps improve your cognitive skills. And these are precisely what you need to make your B2B lead generation a success.

Yes, you need have some smarts in B2B lead generation. To tell you the truth, this is the type of work that requires a lot of thinking. Without it, you really will not be going anywhere in generating sales leads.
