I've always been a bit of an adventurer with a good memory. And I tend to create memories in coordination with important music. For instance I remember I was in 3rd grade when the Beatles were first on Ed Sullivan. I remember I was driving my silver semi-sportscar through my hometown when I accidentally bought David Bowie's new 8-track "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust", and I was sitting at my computer when an assignment came in that there was/is a hot artist of whom must be listened name Anthony Alongi and his project Tranzducer. I was to review an album by said name called "Play Onwards". I tend to be skeptical when I hear "a new word" that makes me want to go look it up. Was this a gimmick? Was this really going to be an artist of quality? As it turns out, this is not only a musician of quality, this is a musician who has not only pushed the envelope, but the entire Office Depot. I remember feeling that way the first time I heard Andreas Vollenweider's "White Winds" and "Dancing With The Lion", and still feel that way 20 years later. Many musicians and/or solo artists had the Vollenweider sound decades later and still do such as Portishead and The Mars Volta. But the great surprise was how much further Tranzducer pushes the envelope. All the song's foundation are electronica. In fact the term "Tranzducer" means "To convert energy". And that is exactly what Anthony does. So far in fact, none of us mere mortals knew it could be pushed to such a length. One example of his tremendous strength in experimentation that works is "Blaze Of Glory" a pure Jamaican Reggae beat done totally in the realm of electronica. Listening to several more singles from the album, I remembered back to the years when I first heard electronica, and though Vollenweider is from Switzerland, I'm fairly sure his training (or at least some of it) was in the U.S. If not, the sound is as "west as it gets". But with Tranzducer, one is not truly sure from where the music hails, and it seems like Anthony has created it that way on purpose. For instance, just when I was sure I knew "what would happen next" in a particular single, Anthony takes us into a whole new arena that didn't exist in the verse right next to this one. I was more than amused at this artist's ability to "convert energy". I believe may feel the same way. I am very impressed with this bright new artist (and thought he's young, I doubt seriously he's really "new at this". The music that comes from his studio is way beyond even some of the most seasoned veterans. Enjoy this great artist. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tranzducer, spearheaded by Anthony Alongi, is a blend of (mostly) American Electronica and fantastic music.
