The Xerox Phaser 6010 printer is aimed at small businesses or workgroups who only need to print around 30,000 pages per month. The great news with this printer is it is jammed full of nice software features to keep everyone happy. There are money saving options in the way of black and white printing only, allowing administrators to keep control on toner usage, N-Up printing, which saves paper and security in the way of watermarks. This is an extremely flexible machine and it is capable of delivering beautiful, quick and intelligent work, every time it is used. Xerox Phaser 6010 ink is on the smaller side and certainly when the printer is purchased the starter toners will only give 500 pages at 5% coverage, so it is important to purchase a full set of toners immediately. We would also recommend you buy a spare set of Xerox 6010 toner at the same time to put into the office storeroom. The capacity on Xerox Phaser 6010n toner is 2,000 page yields for the black and then 1,000 page yields for the cyan, magenta and yellow. The standard paper capacity is also small with no option for expansion, with the standard tray holding 150 sheets, with the bypass tray able to take 10 sheets. This printer will work on both a PC and Mac platform and Xerox have added in a nice installation CD which will get you the right drivers in no time at all. The cabling requirements are USB and 10/100 Base T-Ethernet. Setting this up onto a Network is worth doing as it is then possible to take advantage of the Central Ware IS internal web server, which allows for printer issue diagnostics from your desk. The first page out of this machine is 17 seconds for colour and then 14 seconds for black and white printing. The actual print speeds are 12 pages per minute for colour and then 15 pages per minute for black and white printing. Xerox has teamed up with Pantone, so they have a calibration tool which allows for accurate Pantone colour replication, for those fussy creative people in the office. It has a 1200 x 2400 dpi and can print custom pages, fit-to-page, N-Up, skip blank pages and collate documents for you. The printer has a 384 MHz processor and 128 MB of memory, with no additional slots to add in memory at a later date.
