A small bathroom can easily become the ugly stepchild of home decor if you think size is a constraint. It's easier to do nothing with the bathroom than to develop a creative way to redo it. But a small bathroom can be just as stylish as a bigger one. There are a lot of practical ways to make a small bathroom both functional and fabulous. Instructions as follows: Firstly, remove as much as you can from your bathroom to create a blank slate. Choose a theme for your bathroom decor, which can really help you with your choices for the space. Your theme might be whimsical or modern and classy. Secondly, collect some paint chips to help you choose a main and accent colors that go with your theme. If your bathroom has tiles, countertop or flooring that will not be changed, take those colors into consideration as you choose your palette. For example, if your floor is tan with hints of blue, and your countertop is tan, consider painting the walls blue. Thirdly, choose and install a new sink, tub or toilet, if you are replacing them. A pedestal sink takes up less room than a vanity, but you will lose storage space. Consider putting in a shower instead of a bathtub to make the room seem bigger. This will also give you additional room for storage. Opt for a tall narrow toilet rather than a short, squat one with a wide tank. Fourthly, paint your bathroom walls in your main color. Use a specially formulated bathroom paint that is moisture resistant or a paint with a satin or semi-gloss finish for easy cleaning. Fifthly, replace the fixtures, such as faucets, lights and towel rods. Don't skimp on these accessories, as fashionable choices can really make your bathroom look upgraded, no matter how plain your sink or tiles are. Choose sleek and sophisticated hardware, such as brushed nickel or stainless steel. Sixthly, consider wall-mounted storage solutions, such as a cabinet, shelving or even baskets. If you have the floor space, consider using a tiered stand, a small dresser, a book shelf or a plant stand. But avoid trying to cram too much into the space. Seventhly, hang a shower curtain and add window treatments. Make them as simple as possible to keep your bathroom from looking overstuffed. Use blinds, for example, instead of curtains on the window. Add a throw rug for comfort and lots of plush towels. Eighthly, replace your mirror or medicine chest if it is shoddy or looks like a standard-issue model. Find something with more style, such as a mirror with a gilded frame or a tri-view mirrored cabinet. Ninthly, add accessories and decorative items sparingly. One medium or large decorative object, such as a vase on a shelf or a wall hanging, will complete your decor without overwhelming the room. Finally, let me have a short conclusion.
