Germany as a country has played a pivotal role in shaping the world history. From its innovations in Science, technology and education to the latest in warfare, Germany has a multi-faceted history. It is this rich lineage that inspires people to know more about the German culture. In fact, at institutions like Symbiosis Institute of International Business, such inquisitiveness about different countries and cultures is encouraged. After all, this inquisitiveness is an integral part of their MBA in International Business program where the focus is on developing a business acumen that successfully transcends borders. At SIIB, the legacy of Symbiosis institutes is kept intact in terms of taking innovative measures to ensure a better learning for its students. Recently, when the institute celebrated German Day on 5th October, it was in line with this tradition of MBA in Symbiosis where students are promised world class academic infrastructure. The fun filled event saw the saw the participants of the MBA in International Business, MBA in Agribusiness and the MBA in E & E interact with their German counterparts as well as professionals from German companies. The core purpose of the event was to help the MBA in Symbiosis students understand the German culture, current economic trends and how it can benefit them as future managers. Additionally, the entire event acted as an excellent ice breaker. The interactions between the SIIB students and German representatives also paved way for a healthy relationship to explore placement opportunities across different MNC’s. Before you think this was an all out academic gesture, let me correct you. The best thing that differentiates the regular MBA in Pune and the coveted MBA in Symbiosis at SIIB is the perfect balance of academics and extra-curricular activities. So, the students at SIIB are taught to focus on academics but there is an equal emphasis to let out the stress through events and fun filled activities. The German Day celebrated at SIIB was yet again an exemplary display of how to get this blend right. While the initial part of the activity was focuses on understanding the German economic trends and business development scenario, the next phase was totally dedicated to quality bonding time with good food and great ambience. From funny games to puzzles and impromptu experience sharing, the second half of the event was a chance for the German representatives to let down their hair and enjoy the serendipity of the SIIB ambience. The entertainment quotient ensured that everyone enjoyed the event and the discussion was kept lively at all points of time. The first of its kind German Day showed all the promise of being a fun filled activity that could be repeated every year. The students learnt even better amidst the relaxed ambience and what’s more is that the students played a pivotal part in successfully organizing and conducting the entire event. Such unique initiatives clearly prove that the MBA at SIIB is an opportunity to experience transformation into a global level manager. http://www.siib.ac.in
