Jammu and Kashmir is blessed with abundant natural beauty. There is lot of tourism potential in the state. Lots of tourists visit the state especially Kashmir. Ladakh region is particularly famous with foreign tourists. Among other things, state is also famous for its religious tourism. Vaishno Devi, Amarnath, Shiv Khori Cave, Budha Amar Nath , Machail Mata are some of the famous religious places of State. Among these Vaishno Devi darshans are open all the 12 months of a year, whereas other are open for a particular days in a month. Vaishno Devi is famous shrine which is situated in a Reasi district in J&K. Shrine is situated at a height of 5300 ft . One has to Trek a distance of 12 Kms from Katra town which is the base station to reach the Shrine. Vaisno devi is 45 Kms from Jammu. Many Mata Cars and Taxis at rental available at Railways station/Airport to Katra. Vaishno Devi shrine is maintained by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine board. Around 10 million pilgrims visit the shrine every year and this no grows ever y ear . Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra is considered among one of the holy Yatra for Hindus. Vaishno Devi has manifested itself in the form of pindies in the cave shrine. It is believed that, devotees who come with sacred heart, Vaishno Devi fulfils all their wishes. Amarnathji is one of the major Hindu Holy Places. The holy cave is the abode of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva , the destroyer , has manifested itself in the form of Ice – Lingam in the cave. Lingam is formed naturally. Amarnath Cave shrine can be visited both from Pahalgam and Baltal. From Pahalgam it is a distance of 45 Kms and from Baltal it is 14 Km. From Chandanwari in Pahalgam, one has to trek the distance of foot or by mule. The Cave shrine is open in themonth of Shravan. Usally, Cave is open in the month of ending June till starting August and culminates on the day of Shravan Poornima. Shiv Khori is yet another Shiva cave in the state and it is located in the district Reasi. It is located in Ransoo a village ofi district, which attracts lakhs of devotees annually It is maintained by Shiv Khori Shrine board. Shiv Khori is situated iabout 140 km of Jammu 80 km from Katra. Vehicles go up to Ransoo, the base camp of pilgrimage. People have trek about 3 km on foot on a track .
