The game was supposed to be an opportunity for the New York Knicks to get out of their early-season slump and have their gears going as they are playing against the Charlotte Bobcats, a lowly team that has no expectations whatsoever. However, the Knicks weren't really able to capitalize on the shooting drought of the opponent as they were only to lower the lead to 6 at the end of the period with the score 82-76 for the Bobcats. The fourth quarter saw some fight from the Knicks as they slowly chipped into the lead that by around the halfway mark of the game, the lead was only down to two. From there, they had several chances to tie or overtake the lead but they missed their shots. This was the pattern until the final buzzer sounded.
