Lijiang City center’s altitude is 2418 meters. There are lots of mountains. Most of the towns are located in mountain basins. Yulong Snow Mountain and Laojunshan Mountian are the two main mountain ranges here, distributed with highland meadows, lakes, dam and virgin forest. The Shangzidou Peak of Lijiang Yulong Snow Mountain is the highest point with altitude of 5596 meters, while the lowest point is the seven foot of the exit area of Jinsha River in Qihe District with an elevation of 1219 m. There are Jinsha River and Lancang, two major river systems. Jinsha River just like a dragon through the whole territory of Lijiang, creating the Yulong Gorge, Tiger Leaping Gorge and other natural wonders. As it is located in the Hengduan Mountains, Lijiang region's climate type is very complicated. There are several minorities Lijiang: Naxi, Lisu, Yi, Dai, Bai, Pumi and Tibetan.
