Stoke-on-Trent Hoping for a Housing Boom As Are Kent!

Real Estate,UK Property Investment
Last week, Ed Milliband made a speech to the Labour Party that provided words of encouragement for the current housing crisis situation, and ways in which the party could move forward to help support those in need of a solution. Mr Miliband is often seen as an idealist who believes that the gap between the rich and the not-rich does not have to continue to grow at such an alarming rate. Although Miliband himself may not be counted among those who are among the not-rich he has stood up to the Labour Party and encouraged members to realize that balancing a family budget is not an easy task.

However, most important, was Miliband’s announcement that a Labour Government would take on the task for the public of building more than 200,000 homes each year by the year 2020. Miliband’s idealist take on the government and on the way that the government should reach out and do work for its people rests first on ensuring that the public has the housing it needs in order to take care of individuals and families.

Although the current need for homes is Staffordshire is set at 245,000 per year and Mr Miliband’s plan falls short of that target by 25,000 homes, the difference it would make to the community is still staggering. According to recent reports, only half of the necessary number of homes needed to meet the current public demand are currently being built in Staffordshire. This means that only 122,500 homes are being built each year. Mr Miliband’s plan would greatly increase the number of homes available to those in the region and provide the foundation for Staffordshire to eventually meet its goal of building 245,000 homes a year.

Increasing the number of homes being built in Staffordshire would increase the number of jobs available in the construction industry, and in those businesses that provide support and supplies to the construction industry. Additionally, an increase in homes would assist in driving down the cost of homes, making it possible for more individuals to afford housing without needing to apply for affordable housing, which in turn would lower the number of individuals who cannot find affordable housing. For Stoke-on-Trent, increases in the construction industry would change the future of the economy. Also known as The Potteries, Stoke-on-Trent is a haven for construction companies seeking tiles, bricks, roofing materials, kitchen construction items, sanitary items needed in the construction of homes and more. The demand for these items would increase by a significant amount and literally pull the town of Stoke-on-Trent out of economic quagmire.

The town of Stoke-on-Trent has already recognized the possibilities that are available if the construction boom does occur under a Labour Government. The industry could increase tenfold in the community where land is available for the building of manufacturing plants and factories and where there is a ready and willing labour force seeking employment and the opportunity to increase their own standing and housing opportunities.
