Usher is one of the greatest artists of all time. His personality has shaped the face of music, and his music has influenced millions of people. I am personally an enormous fan of the man Usher. He has various roles: dancer, singer, songwriter, actor, humanitarian, businessperson, record producer, a music coach, and most importantly a father of two. He has sold 65 million records worldwide. He has released so many hits and it was hard to select 5 songs only. Here’s what I came up with… 1. Yeah ft. Lil Jon and Ludacris- It was the first single of the album “Confessions”. Originally, he wanted “Burn” to be the first single but LA Reid told him “you need a smash hit.” Therefore, Usher collaborated with rappers Ludacris and Lil Jon. It was written by Sean Garrett, Patrick J. Que Smith, Robert McDowell, Ludacris and L Roc. The song stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 for 12 weeks. This was a real party anthem in the clubs in 2004. The single received a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration in 2005. 2. Climax- This song was the lead single from the album “Looking for myself” in 2012. Diplo, Usher, Ariel Rechtshaid, and Red Stylez wrote this song. When people heard the single title “Climax,” they realized that the song would talk about sexual relations with a woman. When listeners heard the single, he talks about the complications in a relationship and uses the word, “climax” as a turning point. The single was his twelfth number one single and received a Grammy for best R&B Performance in 2013. 3. U Remind Me- The single was from his third album 8701 in 2001. Usher named the CD “8701” because the album was released on August 7, 2001. “U Remind Me” was a huge hit for him. He received his first Grammy for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. The single is about a man who is impressed with a woman but rejects her in the end. 4. “OMG” ft. Will.I.Am- The single was from his album “Raymond vs. Raymond.” The song sold 6.9 million copies worldwide. This is Usher’s ninth number one song. 5. DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love Again ft. Pitbull- He collaborated with Cuban rapper Pitbull for this dance song. The single was a top hit in fifteen different countries. Savan Kotecha, Shell Back, Usher, and Max Martin wrote the song.
