Veteran's Day is almost here again. It's one of the last 3-day weekends in the U.S., making it ideal to take a Grand Canyon bus tour from Las Vegas, NV. Coaches will be running on a regular schedule over the holiday, so no need to set your clocks forward or back or go only on certain days. Departure times are between 7 a.m and 7:30 a.m., with return to your hotel later in the evening. That's right, you return late in the evening. Travel Time Bus tours go to the West Rim or the South Rim (you can't do both). The South Rim is farther away and takes 5 hours to get there by bus, while it only takes 2 hours to get to the West Rim. Buses return from the South Rim around 9 p.m., and from the West Rim around 8 p.m. So plan to allow an entire day for your bus tour. Which rim should you go to? The jury's out because based on my experience half the people I book tours for go to the West and the other half go to the South. It mainly depends on what you want to do at the canyon. About The Two Rims The West Rim of the Grand Canyon lies around 120 miles east of Las Vegas. That is where the famous Grand Canyon Skywalk is located where you can walk out on glass 75 feet past the edge of the rim. It's also got a number of great lookout points like Guano and Eagle. What's more, there are several fun adventures you can take part in at the West Rim. You can even fly down to the canyon floor at the West Rim, it is the only place it is allowed at the Grand Canyon. You can also take a fun raft ride down the Colorado River while you are there. The helicopter adventure is definitely an upgrade you should consider. The South Rim is 277 miles from Las Vegas. Indeed, it's a long drive but it's well worth it. The South Rim has so many beautiful scenic views it is sometimes called the 'official' Grand Canyon. Upon arriving at the South Rim, the bus tour begins a 2-3 hour ride through the National Park before heading back towards Vegas. Hoover Dam Stop Coach tours to both rims make a quick photo stop at the Hoover Dam. The stop is a quick one. This is because it's impossible to do a full-on Hoover tour and the canyon. There is not enough time to do both tours in the same day. If Hoover means that much to you, I suggest you book a separate trip. Bus tours are affordable and give you a lot for your money. Most everything is included in the cost. Key inclusions are hotel pick up and drop off, lunch, guide service and all taxes and fees. So you don't have to worry about extra charges. No surprise fees. So, Veteran's Day is coming and it is a busy time for travel since it is a long weekend. This means that there will be strong demand for tours and I advise you to book your coach trip early. Don't put off getting your tickets. You will only end up disappointed when you can't get the tour you want. Conclusion I hope this article provided you some insight when it comes to booking a Grand Canyon bus tour over the Vet's Day holiday. You will see beautiful scenery and have fun adventures. Pick the rim you want to visit and start planning your trip now. -------------Travel Advisory------------- Travel blogger Justine M. is an expert on Grand Canyon bus tours.
