The system also keeps track of the time for which the bike was used. This helps keep a record of the time and tally it with the payment that was made by the person when he hired the bike. The payment system is also online and can be made through cards. When a person pays to hire a bike they are provided with a unique 5 digit release code which they need to enter to release the bike they are hiring. From the point the bike is release the person is charged till the point the bike is returned to the docking station. The light on the bike turns green when it is securely docked and after that the person is free to go back. All this management is done online by means of a computerised system which keeps track of the bikes and also monitors the activities at all the docking stations. This technology has made bike hire London an outstanding example of accuracy of operations. One can walk up to any of the cycle stations to register for the London cycle hire scheme. Once the registration is done the person is provided with a unique key with which one can hire any bike that is available. If you require the cycles for a short period of time then simply go to any docking station and pay with your card for the duration of time you need the bike. Once your work is done you can return the bike to nearest docking station and then you are free to go. The London bike hire scheme is actually that simple.
