Yoga for experiencing 'the quantum'.

Health,Hinduism,Spiritual
First of all we need to break out of the prison of our minds. The intellect is the Newtonian level of intelligence, we need to understand this. If you want to experience the quantum level then we must transcend these five senses, and the limited intellect. There is a higher intelligence beyond the mind, and we can begin to access that through intuition. Whereas the head is the region typically ascribed to the intellect, the region associated with higher intuitive intelligence is the heart.

Whereas western science is predominantly intellectual, the ancient eastern sciences are heart centric and more intuitive in nature. Whereas the west began with matter and has been working it's way to consciousness, the East began with consciousness and worked its way to matter. Both the east and the west are at intersecting cross roads, as the principles of quantum mechanics continue to reinforce the knowledge of the ancient mystics and seers; with one noticeable difference - since ancient times yogic masters and tribal shamans have known about other dimensions, parallel universes, and the Reality beyond the construct of the individual mind. There have been endless reports, up to modern day, of yogis whom can demonstrate various perfections, and defy the conventionally upheld theories of science. But yet, we have a shockingly less noticeable amount of western physicist and scientist whom can perform even basic feats of psychic abilities. In fact i can not name one theorist or physicist that can project their astral body out of their physical body at will, commune with plant spirits, experience samadhi, reach nirvana, merge with Brahman, walk through walls, on water, on coals, through fire, rolling in fire, giving up food, living without clothing in freezing weather…

So, what's the difference? Do i dare answer? Yup. Would i ever let you down? The answer you already know, too; the difference between intellectual and intuitive intelligence is vast. And by vast, i mean as vast as the difference between the resident energy of an atom spinning around it's own nucleus, and the amount of energy that is discharged when the nucleus of the atom itself is split. Living in the intellect is like trying to cross the ocean in a canoe, when you had a fifty foot luxury yacht in the boat house. It's not possible to grasp, intellectually, the power of the intuition. Sell your cleverness and buy wonder.

Most of the researches spending the most amount of time studying unified field theory and other theoretical fields will never actually experience the quantum because they can not pull themselves out of their own heads, because they are too attached to the intellect. Let's just be honest, it's the pride of the ego. They're too proud of their knowledge. But that won't help us to experience the infinite, these principles quantum mechanics is revealing. The ultimate nature of reality can be experienced, and it can be known. But we're going to have to accept something, we'll never perceive it with our million dollar telescopes, or our multi-billion dollar particle colliders. To know the true nature of reality, we're going to have to rely on the computer that mother nature has spent the last four and a half billion years evolving and refining just for this very purpose; the human brain and nervous system. Through meditation you can make your mind the ultimate physics laboratory to be able to deduct false from fact. and to be able to come into contact the nucleus of your being, beyond matter, beyond energy, beyond particle and wave. How are you going to experience that which is beyond matter? you're going to use your feeble senses and intellect? would you use a skateboard to travel to the moon?

Why do we pretend like there is no other place to start? The recent discoveries of general relativity and quantum theory has increasingly proven the ancient knowledge of the classical systems of yoga, tantra and Vedanta. As a brief example, quantum theory now states that within all particles is a wave. Not only do all particles behave like waves in the absence of an observer, but within the nucleus of an atom is a sound wave. This same exact concept has been described by yogis as the sacred tremor, or spandan, which pulsates within the nucleus, or bindhu, of the causal body - from which featureless universal awareness percolates into finite individual consciousness. From that cosmic tremoring arises sound, and sound thus becomes the basis of the individuating principles giving rise to the vibrational magnetic fields of energy and matter; the polarities of action and inertia.

Although quantum theory now wonderfully describes the inter-relation and codependent connectedness of all things in the universe, we must acknowledge that a very deep and intimate knowledge of this 'all-encompassing' force has been known to all ancient civilizations and tribal peoples since the dawn of mankind. One of the most incredibly deep and rich spiritual traditions to have elaborated on the eternal living field, call it what you want, is Vedanta - which describes the ultimate nature of reality as Brahman, the supreme being, of which we are all like cells in that vast body. Just as all the cells in our body have an individual existence - the are born, live and die; yet in the same way they are a part of the seamless whole of this body.

The vast ocean of knowledge arising from the exploration of the ultimate nature of reality and consciousness in ancient times led to the composition of the Upanishads, an extremely large compilation of works by numerous meditators whom had a personal experience of universal truth by going within themselves.

Not only has the supreme reality been identified but its description has been elaborated upon in a manner in which anyone today can begin to pick up from where they left off, we don't need to reinvent the wheel. The meditations of Vedanta specifically deal with going into deeper and deeper levels on inner space; their term is akasha. This exploration of subtler and subtler dimensions of inner space is a key fundamental component of Vedantic meditations. Through exploring the internal space of your own being, you can discover the entire universe in contracted form in yourself. you can discover the unified field which unites us all, you can split the atom of duality and unleash the tremendous force of prana Shakti from within your core. You can merge with the cosmic mind, and allow that to completely transform your life. To have a universal vision beyond the life and death of each individual cell, but identifying with the eternal evolving consciousness - which continually expands, grows and elaborates upon it's own identity.

The search for a single unified theory which describes all the laws of the universe mathematically will never be found, and if you look closely enough at the evidence, at the statements of such key players in quantum mechanics such as Niels Bhor, and even Vedanta - you will find the final conclusion is that there is no final conclusion. Allow me to repeat that; there is NO final conclusion about the nature of reality… Why? The nature of that supreme reality is to evolve, and to keep on evolving… therefore there will always be something more. The final statement in Vedanta is "neti, neti" not this, not that. Meaning that the ultimate nature of Brahman is not what has been said here, and not what has been understood there. There is always something more to know.

Like Niels Bhor we should think more in terms of probabilities and not certainties. If there were certainties then in the future physicist would be able to mathematically depict every event, every movement, every word and every thought that you will ever have. Right down to what you will have for breakfast tomorrow morning could be mathematically predicted with absolute accuracy - thus completely nullifying free will.

Einstein spent his every last breath searching for a unifying theory, he believed that there is a mathematical equation 'out there' that is the key to unlocking 'objective reality'. He vehemently disagreed with Niels Bhor, saying "God does not play dice with the universe."

What does this mean? to think in terms of probabilities? It means you must let go of your intellectualism, your false pride, the facade of the ego. You must drop this attachment to the Newtonian apparatus of the gross conscious mind which we use to observe the atomic level of reality; and instead, go deep within your Heart. Feel and you will know. Experience is king. Wonder is the gateway to mystery. To see with new eyes you will have to drop the last pretenses of society, as well as the logical deductive mind, the apparatus of the ego, and learn to recognize your higher awareness. the silent observer within whom is not affected by change. That you that has always been you even though every cell in your body has changed, your thoughts are a constant stream of change, our identity changes, but that silent witness within has always been you. listening to the thoughts, observing the dramas, directing the destiny.

Now, what means do we have for experiencing that which is beyond the limited construct of the mind? We do not have to attain or achieve anything, just recognize that which already is. When we let go of our attachments, our pettiness, our small insecurities and inhibitions, and realize our association with the world is like an actor merely assuming a role in the drama of life, we can have a glimpse of that which is beyond our own illusions. By utilizing the perfectly preserved ancient traditions of yoga and meditation we can wake up to the supreme Reality, and experience something beyond ourselves while still enjoying a body.

Raja Yoga combines hatha yoga with Patanjali's eight-limbed ashtangha yoga and is a scientific method for transcending the gross mundane awareness. The first two parts of this system are yama and niyama, the ten observances. These guidelines are the most commonly overlooked aspects of yoga, yet they are a vital component for establishing the conditions necessary for transformation to occur within yourself. Please do not over look the yamas and niyamas, they are as important as having fertile soil, fresh water and plenty of sunshine for growing a garden. If the yamas and niyamas are ignored, some physical improvement to health may result - but spiritual transformation will elude you. If only the yamas and niyamas are practiced, with yoga and meditation being neglected - good health and spiritual transformation will still occur.

Once the conditions are conducive, the spiritual awareness will begin to flower. The awakened consciousness will blossom more and more. As we maintain the proper conditions through the yamas and niyamas, all other efforts will give powerful results. Whether kriya yoga, mantra anusthana, prayer, ritual, meditation or kirtan - you're life will become a flowering.

So, what are the yamas and niyamas? The yamas are the external observances; starting with nonviolence, truthfulness, non stealing, non excess, non possessiveness. The five niyamas are the internal observances; mental purity, contentment, self-discipline, self study, self surrender.

Now that the soil has been prepared, what ever spiritual discipline you implement in your life is bound to grow, expand and transcend the boundaries of limited awareness.
