After making a doctor’s appointment, fighting with the kids to get them ready, loading them in the car, taking them to the doctor’s office, keeping control of them, and feeling miserable the entire time, you are hoping to get something to help you get feeling better. After that long wait (especially on those weekend days when you have to go to the ER), the doctor sees you. He examines you and says, “It is a virus, you are just going to have to go home and let it work it’s way out of your system. Make sure you drink lots of fluids.” All that for nothing for a cold or flu virus. There is hope though, we have the answer, cold and flu viruses can be treated. There is little more depressing than hearing the doctor tell you there is nothing he can do for you. Basically it means, “sorry you are sick, but you will just have to be sick and miserable until the sickness decides to go away. Cold’s and Flu are common Viruses. There are many over-the-counter products that treat the symptoms of Cold and Flu Viruses, but none of them have the ability to fight the virus. Why is that? Cold and Flu Viruses are inside the cell wall and anti-biotics cannot penetrate the cell membrane. Therefore synthetic medicines are useless. Essential oils which are therapeutic grade have natural chemical compounds that are able to move through the cell membrane to fight off the virus. Unlike anti-biotics that are prescribed by your doctor, the essential oils do not damage the cells or destroy the good bacteria needed for a healthy body. A great recipe to fight off colds is Peppermint, On-guard (a blend), Oregano, Melaleuca and Lemon. It can be gargled, or taken in pill form. Gargled is the most effective, but the mixture does not taste very good. “On-Guard” is a blend of wild orange, clove, eucalyptus, cinnamon and rosemary. All these oils are anti-bacterial, anti-infection, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory. Peppermint has analgesic, anti-bacteria., anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and anti-sposmodic properties. Oregano has great power to fight and kill viruses. It is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and anti-viral. Lastly, Lemon has antiseptic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory properties and is used as a lymphatic decongestant. These oils will fight off the Cold and Flu Virus. It would not be wise to go out and buy the oils mentioned above in order to make your own remedy to kill the Cold and Flu Viruses. Many essential oils will say on the bottle that they are 100% pure. The FDA has a very low standards for essential oils. Most of them are only good for fragrances. The oils you see in the store that are truly pure (which you can’t tell one from the other), may not have the chemical constituents required to treat the cold and flu viruses. There are many reasons for this, but the main reason is that they are not certified pure. If they are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils, it means they have been tested and are guaranteed to have the medicinal value “mother nature” intended them to have. Unfortunately, there is only one company that actually certifies their oils. It is very easy for the oils to lose their effectiveness during processing. It is a very sensitive job extracting the oils from the source. Therefore, if they are not certified, I would not trust them. The pharmaceutical companies copy parts of the chemical compounds in the essential oils and then make synthetic medicines which our bodies don’t like. That is why they give us side effects. Certified Pure Essential Oils have no side effects and you cannot overdose on them. Therefore you don’t have to worry about another problem beside the Cold and Flu Viruses. As if that is not enough. The therapeutic essential oils are medicine. They are 50-70 times more powerful than herbs. They are very concentrated and used by the drop. When you use them, it will not take you long to understand how powerful they are. They are child safe as well and never go bad.
