Goa is one of the favorite holiday destinations in India and practically all throughout the year, tourists flock in large numbers to this wonderful paradise. Known for its exotic beaches and a carefree and laidback atmosphere, Goa has featured high on the list of most famous holiday destinations. Goa travel guide offers a plethora of options to anyone seeking to experience a fabulous holiday. There is so much to do and explore in this wonderful tiny little state that sometimes it becomes a bit difficult to choose the best out of the lot.

However, Goa travel guide comes to your rescue, as it lists out some of the best options for sightseeing and attractions. Here is a brief overview on five of the top most Goa tourist places that one should definitely not miss out on:

Goa Beaches: The long coastline of Goa is dotted with numerous beaches that are truly the lifeline of this state. These beaches offer something for everyone. For instance the beaches of North Goa are famous for water sports and parties while beaches of South Goa are ideal to enjoy moments of complete solitude and bliss.

Markets: When one thinks of shopping in Goa, the first name that comes to mind is the famous flea market at Anjuna Beach. Held every Wednesday except for the monsoon months, this is one of the most famous markets of Goa. Over the years it has increased to such an extent that today it accommodates over 500 stalls. Those who love shopping can literally shop till you drop at these stalls for everything and anything that one can think of. Besides, the Anjuna Flea market, you can also visit the Saturday Night Market in the Arpora Baga Area.

Old Goa: Designated as World Heritage Site, Old Goa is definitely worth a visit. Dotted with numerous centuries old churches and monuments, Old Goa transports you to a different era. The churches with their splendid architecture and the archeological museums definitely give an insight into Goa’s history and heritage. One of the most famous churches is of course Basilica of Bom Jesus, a World Heritage Monument. This church is known for containing the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier, which is enshrined in a silver casket. In every 10 years, the body is displayed to the public. Other churches that are a part of Goa tourist places include Se Cathedral, Church of St. Cajetan, Church of St. Francis of Assisi and Church of Our Lady of the Rosary.

Wildlife Sanctuaries: Goa tourist places are more than just beaches and churches. Since Goa is situated along the Western Ghats, there are dense forest cover that is home to a large number of animals and birds. Bhagwan Mahavir and Cotigao are the two main wildlife sanctuaries that can be explored when in Goa. Mollem National Park is also part of the Bhagwan Mahavir and it is on the outskirts of the park that the famous Dudhasagar Falls can be found.

Spice Plantations: A guide on most Goa tourist places definitely contains information on spice plantations. Goa’s tropical climate is ideal for spice plantations and therefore there are quite a few spice farms that one can choose to visit. Visitors can enjoy a guided tour followed by a sumptuous lunch at any of these spice plantations.
