On a daily basis, many vessels in the UAE mobilize to conduct many marine geophysical surveys for the oil and gas industry engineering production cable dealing pipe line operators and other construction projects. They are extensively involved in marine geophysical, oceanographic, geotechnical, environmental data acquisition equipments and instrumentation, hydrographic surveys which are conducted when small fortunes are invested to meet the requirements of end users industry The surveys may be conducted for many numbers of uses and reasons. Even if these processes are very complex, the end users interest would be mainly focussed on obtaining the necessary data within the shortest period of time. These marine and geophysical survey contractors in the UAE are usually compensated on either a bulk amount payment or daily rate basis. Contracts which involve bulk payments require the assurance of the company to deliver the data and interpretation reports on time at a fixed price. Any changes or additions to the project within the field can lead to additional charges for material and time. The daily rate basis are considered to be more under control of the potential customers company but can result in higher survey costs. A project manager is assigned to conduct these marine and geophysical surveys for the potential customers and is usually the focal point for receiving the surveys’ results from the field and is also responsible for making decisions then and there in regards to the data acquisitions. The manager is usually works with the project team of professional workers and is affiliated with the design, consulting of engineering firms which are involved with the project. The daily data acquired from the field operations and the reviews collected must be made in a rapid manner so that work can be performed for its distribution and analysis. Therefore, it is more than imperative for the buyers company to have a representative from their side to monitor and assist with these marine geophysical surveys. The marine geophysical surveys in the UAE require specialized equipments such as side scan sonar, magnetometer, sub-bottom profiler, MBES, SBES, multiple channels seismic equipments, etc. Therefore, verification of all these systems’ offsets, sound velocity profiles, positioning accuracies, heave compensation and other basic variables are to be implemented into the daily reports of these surveys.
