In today’s competitive world, being a student itself is filled with a growing number of ups and downs. The undeniable fact is that students are faced with an ever increasing clutter and are made to tackle with their share of problems and shortcomings themselves. However, with all the chaos, how does one concentrate on studies? A fact is that concentration requires an incredible amount of effort and time. Repeating something time and again will certainly give you success in mugging it up, however, you could forget it all in barely any time. Why? Well, that’s because your brain hasn’t been concentrating and had probably lost track of what you’ve been repeating a long time ago. In any case, fret not! If you have noticed a lack of concentration, especially while studying, here are a few easy ways to improve your concentration effectively. 1. Checklist : Deny it all you want, but jotting down ‘to-do’ pointers are extremely productive and make complete sense. You might have the feeling that you’re too grown up for that system, however, slow down pal. Get your vital piece of paper divided into three sections. First should read ‘morning’, second ‘afternoon’ and third ‘night’. Allocate subjects and chapters per section and go tick-tick at every point you get done with. This technique is extremely effective and helps give you a direction to move in assisting you in a way to not lose your focus and keeping your concentration intact. 2. Up flow of oxygen : Blood is the main carrier of oxygen in your body and in order to concentrate and focus, your brain needs a pump full of it. However, nature has different plans and hence, due to the gravitational pull, not much oxygen actually reaches your brain. Thanks to gravity, blood gets pooled mainly to the lower half of our bodies. You can take responsibility and take a quick walk around so as to have the blood pumping equally throughout your body and bringing in some energy for your brain to perform, and perform well. 3. Practice makes perfect : Don’t be a jumping jack! Just because you have a lot to cover does not need you to act scattered and try and study everything together. Doing so will just have you confused and all the more unprepared. What you need to do is, get yourself together. Jumping from subject to subject/ chapter to chapter without the completion of the previous one is a completely wrong way of approaching exams and preparation. Instead utilize that time in completing one thing and then moving on to the next. If you really want to improve your concentration you need to train your brain to understand the importance of finishing one task before moving on to the next one. There is a point in life where we all are put through periods of time that have us notice a clear lack of focus and concentration. However, how we treat the situation really what matters. Sweep aside your exam jitters and gain confidence by taking intentional efforts towards developing a stronger concentration and memory.
