Sleepwalking, also known as Somnambulism or Noctambolism is a sleep disorder which belongs to the Parasomnia Family. It is referred to as a slow wave sleep stage in a state of low consciousness which perform activities that must be done in full consciousness. These activities can be benign like sitting in bed and heading to the bathroom. However, there are serious cases which led the sleepwalker to perform complex acts while asleep. It includes cooking, jumping off the window, driving and other violent gestures like as follows: 1. The Sleepwalking Killer Kenneth Parks is suffering from severe insomnia caused by gambling debts and joblessness. Morning of 1987, Parks drove 10 miles to his in-laws’ home while sleeping. He stabbed to death his mother-in-law whom he loved and referred him as “gentle giant.” He also assaulted his father-in-law who survived the attack. After he woke up and discovered what he has done, he then drove to the police station and surrendered himself. 2. The Sleepwalking Artist Lee Hadwin is a nurse during daytime and an artist when asleep. Many renowned artists were held utterly mystified by his nocturnal talent. His pieces are highly favored by major galleries which have artistic merits as well as novelty value on his art. He first started drafting his masterpieces when he was just four years old. He woke up every morning with his room was filled with doodles particularly in the wall. Now, he’s leaving his room with artists’ materials hoping to harness his ability. Expectedly, another artwork is found lying with him as he woke up. 3. The Sleepwalking Chef Robert Wood is a 55-year old chef who claims to have sleepwalking problem for 40 years. While asleep, Wood heads to the kitchen and cooks omelets, stir fries and chips. His wife is worried that he might get into an accident while on the kitchen asleep. So, the couple decided to seek professional advice from sleep specialists and not just rely on La Tarot (the Tarot) predictions. 4. The Sleepwalking Woman Who Had Sex with Strangers A woman in Australia left her house at night and had a sexual intercourse with strangers. The occurrence continued for several months. The Sleepwalker Who Molested a Child In 2007, Alan Ball attended a New Year’s Eve house party. After being drunk and fell asleep on the sofa, he went upstairs in the room of an underage girl and kissed her on the lips. This event made him lost his job and allowed him to see his daughter only in supervised visit. However, a judge in Preston Crown Court cleared him of sexual assault after he imposed that he was sleepwalking and had no memory of the event.
