Waxing your car is an easy way to keep your car looking good. Car wax protects from future damage, like the sun and dirt. It's another step after washing your car, but it's worth the extra time. It's important to know how to wax your car so you don't damage it by waxing incorrectly. Here's a quick rundown: Choose the Right Wax There are many different kinds of car wax to choose from. Car wax comes in either a paste or liquid form. Liquids are easier to handle, but pastes usually last longer. Depending on the type of paint and the color of your car, certain waxes may be harmful to the exterior. Do research beforehand and find the right brand for you. Many dealerships and car parts stores carry a wide selection of waxes. You will also need to buy a clean sponge (many waxes come with one) and some soft, lint-free rags. Clean Your Car Make sure your car is clean before waxing. There should be as little dirt and debris as possible, or else it will mix with the wax and cause scratches. Also be sure that your car is dry; water can interfere with the wax. Find the Right Environment Just like washing your car, you want to choose the right day for waxing. Change Rags Often Rags accumulate wax as you use them to wipe down your car. After a while, too much buildup can cause them to actually deposit wax rather than wipe it off.
