The Titleist 913F fairway wood has been to the doctors for a bit of nip and tuck around the hosel area and it now looks very sleek at address. The 913F Fairway Wood is a high performance, classic shaped fairway that delivers long distance and all-around performance from the tee and turf. Titleist's patented SureFit Tour hosel technology allows loft and lie to be independently adjusted to precisely fit your game. 913F delivers both speed and forgiveness with uncompromised looks, sound and feel. The hosel still comprises the SureFit Tour adjustment system which we think is still the best adjustable hosel in the market as it enables you to change loft and lie independently of each other. The previous 910F hosel was not that bulky or off putting to us, but by shortening and slimming down the hosel the 913F does look a lot better. Bear in mind that unlike the Titleist 913 D3 driver you can’t put a 913F head on a 910F shaft as the hosel fitting is not only shorter but also 0.4mm narrower. Having a smaller hosel also enables more weight to be moved around the head now to make it more forgiving and the slightly larger head and face have made the 913F much more forgiving than previous models. This is a really important change as we felt the 910F was still maybe a little on the compact side for anyone other than very low handicappers. Now with the slightly increased size, the 157cc head and a larger, faster sweetspot it is now much more forgiving and playable for more single figure handicappers. I’m still trying to figure out how that happens. A lot of companies will tout the technological advantages they’ve made over previous models in order to set themselves apart from competitors, but rarely in my experience does it manifest itself in such huge gains. Near as I can tell, though, this is simply a result of the ball going further – balls that stay in the air longer will have more time to go off-line than balls that don’t. Given this, I’m actually a bit surprised the club is as player-friendly as it is. And the fact that Titleist has made these gains without any gimmicky proprietary clubface material or clubhead design, but rather by simply optimizing the clubhead weighting and offering an incredibly easy method of adjusting the cheap golf clubs’ loft, lie, and weighting to fit your game’s needs – The “SureFit Tour Torque Wrench” Titleist offers allows for the average player to completely change all of these factors (plus completely switch shafts to boot) in under five minutes – is a feat that illustrates just how smart and good the people at Titleist are at what they do. Overall, the way Titleist has made this 913F not only perform the way you want it to, but also look, sound, and feel the way you want it to as well really elevates their work here above that of their competitors.
