Samsung Electronics is not only targeting the newly launched Galaxy S IIIat consumers but also enterprises, Samsung Australia vice-presidentof telecommunications, Tyler McGee, claimed. Amongst other prominent highlights, it also offers a wide range ofdevice management features and enhanced security functions with anew virtualisation element, enterprise security solutions and abusiness messaging feature. We aim to provide a highly secure mobile working environment forenterprise users by protecting corporate data and securing it fromexternal threats, McGee said. Blackberry s offerings have thus far been a popular choice withinthe enterprise space. But with Research In Motion warning that it expects an operating loss for the current quarter and plans to cut at least 2000 staff as part of a global restructuring plan, consumers question ifother smartphone vendors will intrude that space. However, McGeedeclined to comment on if Samsung will be going after thestruggling Blackberry market. We have been working very hard in the enterprise area for quitesome time. We are just bringing more into that space and building astrong portfolio of enterprise solutions not just for the Galaxy SIII, but for our broader range of devices as well. We will make inroads into the enterprise market and I think wenow have a compelling offering for businesses to look at, hesaid. The company is currently investing heavily in educating its retailpartners on the benefits of the Galaxy S III in bringing it out viathe channel, McGee said. Samsung is ranked the top in Android smartphones and two timesbigger than its nearest competitor in that space. It aims to reach a bigger consumer market with the launch of theGalaxy S III, especially as it is in talks with carriers for a 4G version of the model. It will build on the momentum of the last Galaxy handsets; theGalaxy S and S II saw 40 million units sold. We see this device asa game changer, especially with its socialising through sharingfactor, McGee said. From an app content perspective, along with its readers hub, socialhub, music hub and games hub, it has also introduced a new movieshub for the smartphone. In offering the movies hub, it has partnered with Quickflix toprovide consumers with an online movie and TV show streamingservice. This subscription service will be available for $14.99 permonth and a two-week free trial. Samsung has announced plans of expanding this service across itsother offerings as well. The Samsung Galaxy S III is available through Telstra, Optus and Vodafone, along with Virgin Mobile, Allphonesand Telechoice.
