You will probably have a decent lie and a good chance to get the ball close to the hole and save your par. Greenside shots offer many options. You can use many different cheap golf clubs to chip with from the fairway, but picking the right one will increase your chances of pulling off a stroke-saving shot.
Developing Feel
To get the feel for the right club to pick for a chip from the fairway, you need to know how far you carry the ball in the air and how far the ball runs chipping with your middle irons, short irons and wedges. To acquire that feel, you should spend time on the practice green calculating carry and roll with all these clubs. Practice from different positions so you can judge the carry and roll with different clubs depending on your distance from the green and whether the hole is cut in the front, middle or back of the putting surface.
Course Conditions
