You will probably have a decent lie and a good chance to get the ball close to the hole and save your par. Greenside shots offer many options. You can use many different cheap golf clubs to chip with from the fairway, but picking the right one will increase your chances of pulling off a stroke-saving shot. Developing Feel To get the feel for the right club to pick for a chip from the fairway, you need to know how far you carry the ball in the air and how far the ball runs chipping with your middle irons, short irons and wedges. To acquire that feel, you should spend time on the practice green calculating carry and roll with all these clubs. Start with your lob wedge or sand wedge and work down to your TaylorMade SLDR Driver for sale. Practice from different positions so you can judge the carry and roll with different clubs depending on your distance from the green and whether the hole is cut in the front, middle or back of the putting surface. Course Conditions You need to factor course conditions when picking the right Callaway X Hot Hybrid to chip with. For example, if the greens are running slow that day, you may need to use less loft than you normally would. If the greens are extremely hard and fast, you may need more loft. If you have to contend with tricky slopes on the green, you may want to consider carrying the closer to the hole to avoid watching your ball roll off in an unpredictable direction. Your lie also matters. Using a sand wedge from a tight lie in the fairway can lead to a bladed shot that runs off the back of the green. Advanced Options Phil Mickelson earned a reputation as one of the best short game artists in PGA Tour history. Mickelson played nearly all his chips with his sand wedge. By experimenting with ball position and keeping his hands ahead of the clubhead in the forward stroke, he learned to control his trajectory so he could hit low, running chips or quick stopping chips with one club.
