Compiled by Pari Syal Photography: Courtesy Design Atelier The Air Force Sports Complex Golf Course, New Delhi, has been perked up with an open kaleidoscopic design as the new watering hole for its elite golfers... Walking passionately for long hours to strike a hole, golfers of the Air Force Sports Complex in New Delhi have a special tee-off at their new watering hole called the Fairway Pub. Located in the middle of a golf course virtually on a fairway, the pub is designed as a cool rendezvous with à la mode ambience, lighting and landscaping. Its kaleidoscopic design is a confluence of energies: decadent details, oaky timber beams covering the ceilings; touches of gold bronze trims, finished with moonlight silver lights... ensconced in a chic palette of grey stone, brown leathers and blue and white accents. Adding a rustic appeal is the distressed grey industrial stone-tile flooring that resonates with the blue and reddish yellow ambient lights in different parts of the restaurant. Designed by architectural firm Design Atelier, the pub is an exercise in refurbishing, where an old crumbling structure is structurally retrofitted; reconnecting the interiors with the expansive natural environment via fully glazed panels, opening up the restaurant to the verdant landscape. Seating orientations are integrated into a 360 degree viewing solution, with straight chair backs, rotund sofa sets and casual foursomes creating distinct comfort zones amidst bespoke wall graphics and custom posters designed by Design Route, delineating stories around the mythologies of golf and illuminated by carefully concealed lights. With water bodies adding a touch of melancholy to the landscape, the virtually open restaurant also has umbrella-sheltered al fresco seating anointing its exteriors, adding a touch of whimsy and invitation to the place. The highlight is its UV and coloured LED-based high efficiency lighting that forms the backbone of the hospitality experience with a wide range of accent and functional lighting solutions in the entrance lobby, the corridors, restaurant, bar, and aesthetic landscape lighting. Although the golf-based decor appears clichéd in places, the pub succeeds in facilitating conversations and easy mingling, in a bespoke hospitality design nested in nature. to view images click on inditerrain.indiaartndesign.com
