The New Year's holiday is a fantastic time to go to Vegas and while you are there, you should take a bus tour to the Grand Canyon. Not that there is any shortage of fun things to do on the Las Vegas Strip. But a bus ride to the canyon is a fun way to take a break and relax. You can go to the West or South Rim. The former is closest and requires a 2.5-hour drive while the later is farthest and takes 5.5-hours to reach. Two Rims Which rim is the best? They are both great, you just have to decide what you want to see. A lot of people like the West Rim. That is the best pick if you want an adventurous trip. For example, the Grand Canyon Skywalk is at the West Rim. That is the world famous glass bridge you can walk on past the edge of the canyon. Additionally, you can also take a helicopter to the bottom and a boat on the Colorado River. If you want to take a chopper down to the canyon floor, you have to do it at the West Rim because that is the only place it is permitted. South Rim Of The Canyon The South Rim is recognized as the official Grand Canyon. Many of the iconic photos of the National Park were taken at the South Rim. You can add a chopper flight to your South Rim tour too, but instead of flying to the bottom of the canyon, you fly over it to the North Rim and back. The holidays are a busy time for bus tours in the Grand Canyon. You should get your seats ahead of time so you don't miss out on a good trip. Plan to get them at least 48 hours before the tour date. Many visitors ask me what happens if their plans change. That shouldn't cause you any problems. Just cancel 24 hours ahead of your departure time and you should be okay as long as you book with a reputable tour operator. You should also ask about changing the tour date to another day if your plans change and you may be able to do so without additional charges. Save Money On Your Tour You'll find the best price on bus tours to the Grand Canyon on the internet. Some worry if booking on a Website is safe and yes it is. Reputable travel sites process all financial transactions securely. In fact, when I book tours for friends and family, I only do it online and I've never had an issue. Remember, it is cold in the Grand Canyon during the winter, so dress in warm clothes. I recommend wearing a heavy jacket, gloves, a hat and good shoes. The elevation at the South Rim is 7000 feet so it is much colder there than at the West Rim. Best thing to do is check the weather forecast the day before you go so you can be properly prepared. To Wrap Up Vegas is great fun during the New Year's holiday. There's lots of energy and excitement. You will probably want a break from the Strip during your stay and that is the perfect opportunity to tour the Grand Canyon by bus. Keep in mind the bus tours last all day. Don't forget about the cold weather at the canyon and forget to take warm clothes. Then kick back and relax and enjoy the best of the Seven Wonders of the World.
