Will you be visiting Las Vegas any time soon? Then consider taking a Grand Canyon bus tour to the South Rim. These day trips are a spectacular way to take a day off from The Strip. Plus, the tours are very affordable during the winter season. You can take a tour to the southern portion of the canyon every day except Christmas. Winter is actually one of the best times to see the canyon. Why? First, there are fewer people at the Canyon and second you might luck into seeing it with snow. The bus tours begin about 7:00 in the morning. There are no late tours. The early morning bus tours don't return until about 9:00 at night, so they can't really get started any later. You might not be back in time to take in a dinner and a show so you may want to leave the evening open rather than making reservations. The Trip The route taken includes going past Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. I do want to point out that most bus tours will do a 15-minute photo stop at The Dam once they cross over the Hoover Dam bypass bridge and into Arizona. Again, this is only for photos. You don't want the bus to stop for too long or it decreases the amount of time you have to explore the canyon. The Hoover Dam is really cool though, so if you want to see it, you can always book a separate tour. The tour bus usually gets to the southern region of the canyon about noon. Once there you can tour Grand Canyon Village and see Mather and Yaki Points. You are allowed about three hours to spend touring the rim, so you have time to see lots of interesting things. These bus tours are usually all-inclusive, which means they include lunch, all taxes, fees, fuel surcharges and Park entrance fees. I don't know if I named all the potential fees but suffice it to say that the price you pay during online checkout is final and fixed and you will not pay more. Winter Weather Be prepared for cold temperatures during the winter months. Since the rim sits at 7000 feet, it gets cold and snowy there. Be sure to dress warmly. I do suggest wearing a heavy coat, hat, gloves, long pants, a sweater and more. Also, wear warm socks and enclosed sturdy shoes. It is possible you might have to cancel your tour or reschedule it due to bad weather. It's just part of going to that part of the canyon during winter. Fortunately, the good tour companies refund all your money if a tour is canceled due to bad weather. If you would rather, you can get the tour rescheduled. Further, if you decide upon arrival that you don't have time to do the tour, then cancel within 24 hours and you'll get a full refund. RSVP These tours are popular so get your seats in advance. Try to book at least 72 hours in advance of your tour. Moreover, book your trip online. You get the best price on the internet. Most companies have an Internet rate that is lower than you can find anywhere else. Tips from the Author Let us go to Grand Canyon National Park!
