One Up On Wall Street by Peter Lynch is considered one of the best investment books of all time. Peter Lynch made his name working as a research consultant at Fidelity Investments after graduating from Boston College and the Wharton School of Finance. Peter has authored a couple books, but none as famous as One Up on Wall Street. The book tells investors that they should use what they already know to help them make money in the market. The book takes a real world simplistic approach to investing, making outperformance seem attainable for all investors. Peter Lynch believes even average investors can become experts in their own field and pick winning stocks as effectively as Wall Street professionals. Lynch focuses on simply observing business developments and taking notice of your immediate world in your everyday life. Examples include noticing where shoppers navigate to on your next trip to the mall. Lynch spent years managing the Fidelity Magellan Fund, which was a very well known fund at the time. Even Jim Cramer has discussed Peter Lynch strategies and admitted that he used to invest in Lynch's Magellan Fund when he was first getting started with investing. Lynch highlights focusing on companies that will provide a long term investment return. By ignoring interest rates, short term price fluctuations you can invest in companies with long term potential that will reward your patience. Investing using the approach taken by Peter Lynch can be quite profitable. There are quite a few of successful investors, including many famous ones that often quote or reference the great Peter Lynch. Although Warren Buffet often gets all the credit because of the vast amount of wealth he has created for himself, Peter Lynch is also one of the best investors of all time. His fortune created may not be as large, but perhaps that could be contributed to the fact that Peter always worked for Fidelity and never branched out and started his own firm. Despite the difference in wealth, there is a lot to be learned about investing from both Peter Lynch and Warren Buffet, so I strongly recommend this and any of Peter Lynch's books. The book is a great piece for any investors bookcase, and it has personally helped me with my investing. There are some definitive real world investing tips in here that will help you make sense the complex world of investing. John Stone recommends this book.
