Science Breakthrough, Learn How To Avoid Muscle Pains With Statins

Business Opportunities,Health,Science & Technology
You went for a routine checkup at the hospital. Your doctor discovered that your cholesterol level was high, increasing your risk of developing cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke. In order to reduce your chances of developing these cardiovascular diseases, your doctor placed you on one of the statin medications – a class of drugs frequently prescribed by doctors to help lower the cholesterol level in the blood.

Few weeks into taking the statin medication prescribed by your doctor, you notice something has changed in your body: you start to feel muscle pains and aches all over your body. You may feel this pain as soreness, weakness or tiredness in your muscles. The pain can be mild or severe. In most cases, you might even find a simple routine activity as walking or climbing a staircase very uncomfortable and exhausting. This is time when you start wondering how to avoid muscle pains with statins.

I bet a lot of people on statin medication can relate with this scenario. Well, muscle pains and aches are the most common side effects of statin drugs. And nobody seems to know how to avoid muscle pains with statins. A recent study published in JAMA discovered that people on statin medication are more likely to suffer from musculoskeletal conditions, injuries, arthropathies and generalized pains. According to this study, other side effects from statin drugs include nerve damage, kidney damage, liver damage, digestive problems, increased blood sugar level, and hardening of the arteries.

Despite the risky side effects of statin, why do doctors prescribe statin drugs for people with high level of cholesterol in their blood? Well, statin drugs seem to be most effective drug for the treatment of patients with high blood cholesterol. Many studies have confirmed that statin medications reduce the risk of developing heart attack, stroke, and death from cardiovascular diseases by 25 – 35 percent. In addition, these studies also reveal that statins cut down the chances of recurrent strokes and heart attacks by 40 percent. Now you know why statins are the choice drugs for cardiovascular conditions. But not to worry, there are ways to avoid the pain; you just need to learn how to avoid muscle pains with statins.

Millions of people take statin drugs for different medical conditions daily. In addition to the millions of people already taking different statin drugs, about 15 – 20 million people are expected to start statin medication based on their risk factors for heart disease. Consequently, millions of people all over the world will be suffering from muscle pains and aches – the common side effect of statin drugs.

Is There A Way People on Statin Medication Can Avoid Muscle Pains and Aches?

The options available to people who are experiencing statin-induced muscle pains and aches are limited. None of these options has been proven to stop the muscle pains and aches. Some of the options are:

* Getting off the Statin Medication: When the muscle pains get too severe, most doctors stop their patients from further taking the statin medication to see if the pain will stop. In most cases, the pains continue, even after the patient has discontinued the drugs.

* Change to another statin medication, which can be tolerated by the patient.

* Taking Statin Drug Along With Co-enzyme Q10: Statins have been found to reduce the level of Co-enzyme 10 in the body. Because of this effect of statin on the Co-enzyme Q10 level of the body, many doctors prescribe Co-enzyme Q10 to their patients to see whether it can help to reduce statin-induced muscle pains and aches. No scientific evidence is, however, available to prove that co-enzyme Q10 help to reduce statin-induced muscle pains and aches.

So Really? - How To Avoid Muscle Pains With Statins

A better alternative seems to be on the horizon for people with high cholesterol level. Scientists have discovered that soy is capable of reducing the cholesterol level of people with high blood cholesterol. Bioactive soy can be the magic super food that will not only lower the cholesterol level of patients with high blood cholesterol and other cardiovascular diseases but also take away the muscle pains associated with the taking of statin drugs. For now, research has shown that soy is capable of reducing high cholesterol level in patients with high risk of developing different cardiovascular diseases.

I have discovered the greatest superfood in the world. Not all soybeans are alike. As an R.N., I have done the research for you and I have found an outstanding source. It is exclusive and backed by science. For more information and to solve your cholesterol issues Visit my website
