I imagine it is sensible to suggest that many individuals have questioned the meaning of life during our lives. In actual fact, trying to find the meaning of life has started to become somewhat of a cliché today. There is a profound human need to find out the answer; especially in a world marked with pain. If you're similar to me, maybe you have already crafted a sufficient answer to this question. Your answer is likely relying on your specific world-view and activities. Likewise, in case you are like me, you might have noticed yourself troubled as that answer unravels with added life experience. Personally, I recall believing I'd addressed this question during my high school and college years. Specifically, I found the meaning of life being - the quest for beauty throughout our lives. This appeared to be reasonable due to the fact it consumed my thoughts back then. Moreover, society I experienced around me glorified beauty in absolutely everything - people, places, and things. The longer life I lived, however, the more my ”answer” begin to fail me. Too little purpose for my life swelled once I realized my inability to obtain the meaning of life on which I had established. Mainly, I became incapable of surrounding myself with wonderful people, places, and things to the magnitude that would gratify my soul. Taking this scenario to the logical conclusion, I started to minimize the meaning of my own life. Obviously, this is a route towards despair and darkness, instead of an empowering theme for a life well-lived. Later, by the grace of God, I received knowledge and understanding of the authentic meaning of life! Most remarkable, I realized I had it backwards… the meaning of life actually had little to do with what was taking place inside my own head, my own ambitions, and my own goals. Rather, the meaning of life had everything to do with something much higher than myself… God! I am blessed right now to answer the question “What is the meaning of life?” for you. I hope I will help you avoid the sort of misunderstanding, strain, and foolishness that characterized me as a misdirected youth previously. Nonetheless, I must advise you that knowing the answer is simply the beginning of employing it to day to day life. So here it is... The meaning of life for every single human being on this planet we call Earth is to glorify God. God created each and every one of us for a single purpose… to glorify Him. Surely, HOW we do that depends on us. The truth is, you'll find countless ways that we glorify Him. Some people do this through great feats in athletics… many accomplish this through producing music, dance, or other displays of art… some people achieve this by seeking to be the greatest fathers, mothers, wives and husbands we can possibly be… The point is that through ALL we do, we've got a core focus that is to glorify God. With His glory as our core motivation, we can literally attain our purpose for life in everything that we do… in spite of how small it appears. Let's hope I have helped answer the question “What is the meaning of life” for you today. I am aware that knowing the answer is only the start.
