Tips to Get a Grand Canyon Bus Trip from Las Vegas

Travel & Tourism,Recreation & Leisure
Each year, millions of people travel to Grand Canyon National Park to take in its spectacular natural beauty. A good portion of those visitors come from the Las Vegas area as part of a vacation to the region, but they don't want to drive from Vegas to the canyon by car. The ultimate solution is to take one of the exciting canyon coach tours and let someone else do the driving.

The Spectacular Natural Landmark

The Grand Canyon was designated a National Park about a hundred years ago. The canyon is about a mile deep, 277 miles long, and about 18 miles wide at its broadest point.

The western rim of the canyon is on land owned by the Hualapai Indian tribe. That part of the canyon is very popular with tourist and it offers fantastic views. Guano Point is a lookout not to be missed since it offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the canyon. The famous Grand Canyon Skywalk is located at another lookout called Eagle Point. The Skywalk is a glass bridge visitors stand on to peer down 4000 feet to the canyon floor beneath them.

The South Rim of the canyon is home to Grand Canyon Village. The Village even has an old Train Depot that was actually used by the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway system. The railroad is still in operation and trains arrive and depart there on a daily basis. History and geology buffs won't want to miss the Yavapai Museum of Geology location on the South Rim because it is devoted to the origin, history, and geology of the canyon region. It is also the location of the Grand Canyon National Park Visitor Center. The center plays an informational film about the Grand Canyon that is called, "Journey of Wonder."

Fees

There's an $25 admission fee to the National Park, and some of the activities inside the Park charge a separate, additional fee. Some activities and attractions are included in certain tour packages but they can also be purchased separately. Visitors can bring a service animal, but no pets are allowed inside the Park's gates.

It takes about five hours to drive to the Park from Vegas since it is around 220 miles away. That is part of the reason coach tours are so popular. A bus tour is much more relaxing and comfortable and provide the ability to enjoy the scenery along the way. Plus, the tours give the chance to enjoy other activities too so they are much more than simple transportation to the canyon and back. For one thing, you will be accompanied by an entertaining and informational tour guide that makes the drive a lot more enjoyable.

You'll also be pleased to know most of the tour operators offer a free shuttle service to the hotels on the Strip so you don't have to worry about getting to the tour departure point. For example, if your tour begins at the McCarran International Airport, the shuttle takes you back and forth from there to your hotel in Vegas. Ultimately, you get to decide on the tour you want to take since you can pick one that merely offers transportation to the National Park, or you can pick on the offers additional attractions, sightseeing opportunities, and adventures.

Hassle-Free

Many travelers embark on their Grand Canyon adventure after flying into Las Vegas. Driving by car is a hassle since it is a long drive and involves renting a car, so going by tour bus is the ultimate solution. Motor coach tours are convenient and offer a fun, comfortable trip to the West or South Rim, where you'll experience one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
