Fiber is a substance in plants while the dietary fiber is the kind eaten which is a type of carbohydrate that the body cannot digest. The secret of weight loss without feeling hungry entails adding fiber to your diet. Including more fiber to your diet or taking foods high in fiber results in weight loss. Eating foods or living on diets containing high quantity of fiber will spend more time in the stomach than other food substance. Fiber makes a person’s stomach full quicker and it slows down the rate of digestion, hence keeping a person feeling full longer than normal. High intake of fiber-rich foods keeps a person healthier. Taking foods containing fiber reduces or even prevents constipation, maintains a healthy body weight and reduces the risk of heart disease and diabetes. The positive effect of fiber on your body weight makes it easier and quicker for you to lose your muffing top by adding fiber to your diet. Fiber can be classified into either soluble or insoluble fiber based on its characteristics. Fiber that dissolves in water resulting in a gel-like material is known as soluble fiber while insoluble fiber is a type of fiber that fosters the passage of materials through your digestive system and also boosts stool magnitude, hence providing those with constipation or irregular stools with great benefit. Many Octogenarians are after insoluble fiber; insoluble fiber absorbs water in the stomach and in the process bulks up, hence pushes waste down and out of the system. Insoluble fiber is commonly found in the skins and the outer parts of foods that gives foods their tough and chewy texture. Insoluble fiber sources include whole-wheat flour, wheat bran, nuts, beans, vegetables like potatoes, cauliflower and green beans. Soluble fiber sources include oats, barley, peas, psyllium, beans, carrots, fruits, apples and citrus. The intake of these soluble fibers can help reduce blood cholesterol and glucose level. The addition of fiber to your diet has numerous benefits, some of these benefits include: normalizing bowel movements, reducing cholesterol level, it helps in maintaining bowel health, it helps control blood sugar levels and it also helps in accomplishing healthy weight. Foods containing high fiber mainly demand more chewing time resulting in minimal consumption, hence giving the body time to register when you are no longer hungry. Adding fiber to your diet cuts the calories you consume every day. There are different methods of adding fiber to your diet to get an effective weight loss result. Some people don’t even get enough fiber from their food alone, therefore fiber supplements are used. Although, the best way to get fiber is through natural means but when you can’t get enough fiber you need in your diet, then eating foods and beverages with added fiber and taking fiber supplements makes up for this. Fiber supplements are generally made or produced from fibers extracted from plants or animals. These fibers are called functional fibers which have an important benefit on human health. Recent research has shown that fiber supplements are not as effective as fiber-rich whole foods for weight loss.
