According to a study done by Louisiana State University, 71 percent of participants remembered the company’s name that they were given promotional products from. In addition to creating a lasting memory by giving out promotional items such as shirts or mugs emblazoned with your company’s name or logo, The American Marketing Association adds that the “gesture of good will” encourages a “favorable impression.” Let’s face it — everyone loves free stuff! So if you can give a gift that also affects your business in a positive way, it’s a win-win.

The Benefits Outweigh the Costs

Promotional products range in price depending on the product and the level of customization (including whether shirts are screen printed or embroidered. However, the cost of purchasing promotional products is minute compared, statistically, to the amount of revenue these products can bring in to any given company. The Advertising Specialty Institute’s Global Advertising Specialties Impression Study — which included input from 7,145 consumers in 21 different metro areas in eight countries — highlighted the following benefits:

• Consumers in Sydney, Rome and Canada earning $100,000 (or more) were most likely to wear branded headwear • Logoed bags and writing instruments have the lowest CPI (cost per impression) of any promo item in the U.S • Latino consumers are the highest racial demographic (52 percent) to own a logoed T-shirt • Branded desk accessories appeal most to younger consumers and Australians • 95 percent of consumers who owned a logoed outerwear, such as a fleece, could recall the advertiser’s name

Sell More with Promotional Products

The American Marketing Association noted statistics of a Baylor University study showing companies that used promotional products as part of their sales and marketing tactics did 22 percent more business than those who didn’t. While online and digital marketing techniques are becoming more and more common (and effective in their own right) the proof is in the pudding when it comes to your logo on promotional products.

Repetition is a Good Thing

Recognition and repetition is beneficial in business when you’re trying to get your company’s name “out there” or trying to differentiate yourself from other companies in your industry. In addition to gaining brand exposure, simply by wearing a t-shirt or hat with a company logo you’re creating recognition of your brand or company in almost a subliminal way that sticks with people.

Promotional Products Don’t Get Tossed

The Advertising Specialty Institute states that 62 percent of people who are given a promotional product tend to pass it on to someone else rather than throw it out. The exposure of your brand’s name goes on and on, helping spread the word about your business with that one item.

In addition to more “high tech” forms of marketing, don’t forget about the impact of products that are proven effective to your business or your brand in numerous ways. A promotional product lasts longer than an ad in a magazine or a banner on a website and is a powerful aspect of any marketing campaign.
