Python is a high level and object oriented programming language which is used for purposes like scripting for web based applications, computing scientific calculations, scripting language for a variety of different software etc. “What is Python?” involves the various features and uses of the scripting language Python which has made it a popular choice among software developers. Python as a Scripting Language Python is also used for the process of scripting such as in developing web based applications such as Drop box etc. It also used as a scripting language in the development of various popular software products such as Three Dimensional Animation Package programs such as Blender, Light wave, Motion Builder, and Cinema 4D etc. It has also been used extensively the development of various video games. The most recent accomplishment of Python is that it has been accepted as one of the 3 programming languages of used for developing Google Applications Engine alongside Go and Java. Other important uses of Python Thus, Python has made the lives of programmers simpler and has found its place among the most popular programming languages on the internet. “What is Python?” no longer remains unanswered. While answering “What is Python?” one has to specify the uses of Python in computing sciences in order to complete the answer. Python has been used in computing scientific calculations in the fields of algebra, calculus, numerical mathematics etc. In fact Python has also been used in the development of the much awaited Artificial Intelligence. Important features of Python The main characteristic feature of Python is that it possesses a dynamic system and has been developed with a memory management system that is automated. It also has a large, standard and comprehensive library. All the above mentioned features give Python an edge over other programming languages and are hence responsible for its huge popularity. The programming language Python focuses on making its code readable and its syntax (code writing procedure) is designed in such way so as to allow computer programmers to freely express their concepts in a few lines of coding than it would normally be possible in other computer programming languages such as C, C etc. Using Python as tool programmers can develop conceptually clear and compact programs both on a large and small scale.
