I read reviews on clubs all the time but rarely post reviews. After hitting this ping g25 fairway wood the last two days, i felt compelled to write.
The G25 fairway has a stealth look with the matte black crown and face that inspires confidence at address. What this club has done is significantly shrink my shot dispersion and give me a consistent ball flight time in and time out. I fly a 3 wood about 235-240, nothing special. I was aiming at a green at my club's driving range that was about that distance. Through about 20 balls, i had hit the green or flew the green on my target line about 11 out of 20 times. The 9 others were only off about 5-10 yards either direction.
This 3 wood isn't any longer than my previous Ping G20 fairway wood for sale, so there will be no claim of getting an "extra 20 yards". It was much harder than the i20 fairway to shape shots as the G25 just wanted to bang it straight. The sound was a little duller than the G20 but the trajectory was possible a little more penetrating thanks to that marginal increase in ball speed.
Combined with the better player looks, this is an ideal club for mid-handicappers or those who want a 'put-it-in-the-fairway' club from the tee. The smaller head shape did affect the sound a little and we probably preferred the sound and head size of the G20 fairway, but that is our preference as there was very little to choose between the 2 models but at least now you have the choice of styles.
Remarkably,this g25 fairway is very forgiving and easy to launch. For people like me whose miss is low on the heel, or who don't always find the middle, this club is unique.
