When you are running or managing a school you have huge responsibility. One of the primary things you have to do is to make sure that the children enrolled in the school stay safe at all times. One way you can do this is by displaying appropriate health and safety signage all over the school premises. Here are a few types of mandatory signs and signage's you can consider investing in to meet your safety requirements. Signs depicting school rules All the rules of the school pertaining to general discipline and expected behaviour should be put down in writing and displayed on the school gate entrance. Things which are typically mentioned in such signs are prohibition of bringing intoxicating items inside the school premises and prohibition of engaging in destructive or inappropriate behaviour inside the school premise. Generally these kind of mandatory signs list down do's and don'ts for visitors too. Signs for school ground The school ground is an area usually used by students for sports and recreational activities. There are specific rules applicable to the usage of the ground such as adherence to certain hours, not using vehicles, no loitering, no consumption of alcoholic beverages etc in school ground. Whatever rules the management has set down for the ground should be printed and pasted on appropriately sized school safety signs. Signs for visitors There are several kinds of visitors who visit the school premises on any given day. Typical examples include ex-employees, vendors, parents of kids studying in the school, education officials, academicians etc. There will be a separate set of rules applicable to these visitors and usually the visiting areas like lounges, conference rooms, visitor rooms, parental discussion rooms are fitted up with such signs. Most visitor signs are preceded by a welcome message saying "welcome to our school." These signs also contain information about registering names of visitors at the helpdesk. Locker security signs Schools need to be particularly vigilant about the contents kept by students in their lockers. Many times misguided students tend to keep alcoholic substances, addictive products, porn cd's, books and other prohibited items in the locker. This is why school lockers are subject to random checks. School authorities often display signs saying that students should not keep specific items in their lockers, all lockers can be checked at any point of time and consequences of keeping prohibited items in lockers can be punishable. Prohibitive signs There is a no long list of prohibited activities inside a school. Some of these activities are pertaining to safety issues while others are related to disciplinary causes. Signs like "Do not touch" or "do not climb fence" are called prohibitive signs. Signs like "do not litter" and "do not trespass" are disciplinary enforcement signs.
