Do you find yourself clueless sometimes when having fights with your boyfriend? Look into these tips and you might have ideas on handling some of the common problems in your relationship: Compromise Let's say your boyfriend arrived late on your special date; before you go ahead and yell at him for letting you wait too long, think about this first.. “What would my boyfriend feel if this happened to him instead? How would he react if I'm the one who's late? Will he yell at me and blame me and walk away? Or, would he deal with the situation calmly? How would I feel or behave as well?” Asking yourself these questions may go a long way in widening your understanding and stretching your patience when faced with such an unfortunate situation. You see, most boyfriend-girlfriend conflicts actually root from how either or both of the parties react to a certain budding issue. So, yes, it is normal for you to feel disappointed or even angry, but how you deal with this negative emotion matters most. If you want to have a big fight out of him being late, then go ahead and make a scene, which will only bring shame and non-respect to your partner and yourself. However, if making the date memorable (no matter what) is more important to you, then why not talk about the problem calmly and proceed with the night as if nothing happened? Listen Apart from being able to compromise, it is also important to be willing to lend your ears and attention whenever necessary. Give your partner ample time to talk and explain his side rather than directly jumping into conclusions due to anger and failing to listen just when the situation calls you to do so. Before opening your mouth, listen and consider the reasons of your boyfriend first. You won't like it if the person you're talking to refuses to listen and goes on stating his thoughts, would you? Therefore, you should also make your partner feel that you are always willing to listen, especially when it means saving your relationship. Listen without judgment. Forget about your prejudices first so your boyfriend can openly explain his side of the story, giving you a clearer idea of the issue and eventually inspiring you to settle things calmly instead of nagging and refusing to understand and ending up saying hurtful words. Be mature Doing so would mean facing the problem like a grown up. What would mum or dad do? Well, yeah, of course, you could be young compared to your parents and perhaps they're not the best couple in the world, but hey, it's not bad to get input from a married life sometimes, especially if you think the man you're dating with now is the real deal. If you want your current relationship to last, then you would do all mature ways possible to stick around through thick and thin. It's like preparing yourself for your future together. Being mature when faced with problems could mean understanding and accepting even the not-so-good things in the relationship. It could also mean choosing to love the person in spite of his imperfections. More importantly, it's about considering each other's feelings and making decisions that are for the best for both and the relationship. Think about these things carefully, and think about how you can use them to have a better romantic relationship with someone you most probably hope to live with forever.
