On June 6, 2012, the Night of Good-Neighborly Friendship gala performance of the 12th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA). Against the backdrop of beautiful landscape of different countries, Chinese artists performed the classic songs and dances of participating countries, vividly demonstrated the essence of the Shanghai Spirit of respecting diversified civilizations and seeking common development, expressed the desire of building a harmonious region with lasting peace and common prosperity and aroused strong resonance from the audiences. The gala performance ended with Nessun Dorma performed by the three most famous Chinese tenors. The characters on the background screen Long Live the Friendship of the People was exceptionally eye-catching. Hu and other heads of state all stood up and applauded warmly to congratulate the success of the performance.
