There are educational options for students who require some preparation training in order to perform at a level that will allow them to succeed in specialized programs. At Centennial College, these undertakings are called College and University Preparation programs. Not only do these programs offer small classes, state-of-the-art science and language laboratories as well as dedicated, experienced faculty support, but they also help ESL students brush up on their English. As one of the respected Pre Health programs in Toronto, this offering is very well rounded. It not only includes health-related courses such as Computers for Healthcare Professionals (introduces students to word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications in a Windows-based operating system and gain skills related to basic research technique and APA reference format) and Pre-Anatomy and Physiology (allows students to develop a strong foundation in anatomical terminologies and fundamental human physiology through an emphasis on understanding and applications rather than memorization), but also math, communication and science courses. Aside from obtaining a strong theoretical base, students also gain a practical one as they complete a range of projects and hands-on activities prior to graduation. For example, in the Computers for Healthcare Professionals course, students finish a final project for which they are expected to apply the computer skills, research technique and data analysis tools to prepare a properly referenced health-care related research report.
