If you have hired a physician in the past, you know that it can take a significant amount of time. This is because you have to check over a variety of resumes, ensure that a large quantity of people have applied provide you with a selection, and call around to references to find out if the person is as great as you think they are on paper. Physician staffing needs to happen quickly - and there are five reasons why. #1 - Provide Customer Service It's important that you provide customer service. Regardless of where your practice is, patients know that they have other options in terms of where to go. If they constantly wait an hour or more in the waiting room, they are going to get frustrated. As a result, they are likely to find another doctor's office somewhere else in town. If you make physician staffing your priority, you will be able to get another physician within your practice and be able to reduce the amount of time that patients wait to see a doctor. #2 - Reduce Stress on Other Physicians The last thing that you want to do is end up looking for two or three physicians instead of one because they have gotten frustrated with taking on extra work. You have to look at the stress you are putting on your other physicians when you are down one. If you can reduce the amount of time it takes you to staff a physician, you are likely going to help out the other physicians on staff and ensure that everyone is taking on the correct amount of work. #3 - Get the Cream of the Crop In the event that you take too long with physician staffing, you may be missing out on some of the best applicants. Most people who are applying for a job want to be hired as quickly as possible. If you don't provide them with a job offer, they are going to continue looking at other facilities. The sooner you can make a hiring decision, the sooner you are able to get a qualified individual into your practice. #4 - Offer More Services It may be possible to offer more services when you focus on physician staffing. Particularly if you work with a recruiter, you can find specialties within the different resumes that are applying for the open physician position. You may be able to add a whole variety of services that you never thought was possible all because of being able to hire a better physician. #5 - Save Your Sanity It's also important to save your sanity when it comes to physician staffing. The longer you take, the longer you have a task that is following you around from day to day. It will be a lot easier to simply hire someone and get that task checked off on your "to do" list. A recruiter in the healthcare industry can assist with this task.
