We’ve all known about vinyl for years. We’ve had carpet in every house we’ve ever lived in. But, until relatively recently, there has been no middle ground. For luxury and comfort you bought carpet and for practicality and for rooms with high moisture leaves you bought vinyl flooring. |
Flotex is being used more and more in public spaces, and now you can use it in the home as well. It solves a number of practical and aesthetic issues which flooring often raises, and can improve the design quality of your home no end.
These hybrid products combine qualities from carpet and vinyl to give the best of each, and to create something entirely new. Flotex is more of a carpet than anything else, and to look at you wouldn’t necessary realise quite how radically different this product is. Made of short, thin nylon fibres which are densely packed into the backing, this product doesn’t loop its pile as every carpet will. Instead the fibres are entirely upright. The thick coverage looks and feels like carpet to the casual eye, however the different style and fibre type radically improves cleaning capabilities. Spills, mud and dirt don’t get trodden in or caught up in the fibres. Instead they are easily removed so that your floor covering looks brand new for substantially longer.
These fibres are not only easier to clean than their looped and curled counterparts, they are also considerably more practical for those with allergies. In both types the allergens can become trapped by the fibres, but Flotex holds on really well, meaning that dust won’t just blow up causing problems for any nearby asthmatics. Not only are the particles held securely, they are also easy to remove. A simple run through with the vacuum cleaner will lift any traces clean away. While vinyl is easy to clean, it must be done so regularly as it doesn’t trap allergens at all and can therefore cause irritation or worse.
The flooring is completely waterproof thanks to its clever backing and nylon finish. You can deep clean simply by using water and carpet cleaner. Spills of liquids won’t soak through and ruin floor boards either – they can simply be mopped up when you get the chance.
Hybrid floors such as Flotex often the best of both worlds, and something entirely new as well. They’re even pretty reasonable to buy, so we see no reason why you’d not choose them for many of your rooms or offices!
