Italian police detained on Wednesday a man suspected of being the author of the school bombing that killed one girl and injured others last May. According to local media, police detained a 68-year-old petrol station attendant near Lecce, a city in southern Italy close to Brindisi where the school is located. Giovanni Vantaggiato, who is father of two daughters and has reportedly confessed his crime, is thought to have wanted to privately revenge against the school for a suffered injustice. Some 1,400 people have been checked by police or questioned in the past days after the images taken from video surveillance of the probable killer were released. The bombing outside the vocational school "Francesca Laura Morvillo Falcone" occurred on May 19 as a group of students were entering the building. Melissa Bassi, a 16-year-old student, was killed in the explosion while another seven girls were rushed to hospital. One of them was in very serious conditions, and has gone through three delicate operations, local doctors said.
