Fasting has come to being considered to be one of the best ways for many people to lose weight. There exist a few diverse ways that you can effectively fast, and it is most likely best left for the individual to discover a way that works best for them. Given that compliance, or being on a program that one can live with over a long term, is vital, it is extremely challenging to claim that a way of fasting is a great way for everyone. But once we decide this is the path we are going to take, the most difficult part will be getting through that early adaptation period. Depending on just how insulin resistant you are as well as other issues such as weight, levels of cholesterol, blood pressure levels and exactly how compliant you will be with the program, the whole process could take as few as 7 days or somewhat more time. A small percentage of individuals could exhibit headaches initially, although the biggest difficulty individuals will have is the frequent sense of feeling hungry. This adaptation is usually that uncomfortable time it will take for the body to change from burning sugar as its primary energy source to burning fat. Sugar burns up fast, and when this fast burning fuel runs out the body wants more. In the event it does not get it the system will eventually go to the fat stores, but just when it understands any short-term fix that it has always come to anticipate is not there. Another issue to conquer is that folks become accustomed to consuming something from habit, and at first it will take some determination to simply break that long-established habit. There are some steps that will help us to get past this transition time: 1. Take it little steps at a time. I know with my case during my fast day I'll eat one small meal of an assortment of vegetables and usually a chicken breast or fish. The hardest period for me is the periods when I would normally eat during that day. If I will get past those occasions I'm usually good for two or three hours. By basically postponing that one meal which I'm going to have when I feel the hunger pangs, taking it with small bits at a time before I know it it's five or 6 o'clock at the later part of the day and basically time to eat. If I didn't snack I've managed to get through the day. 2. Down water as a food substitute. People might often confuse hunger with thirst, so by consuming water as an alternative to eating food you will be satisfying both. Remember if you fast you can drink as much water as you want, so with water in your stomach will at the least cause you to feel something will there be. 3. Stay clear of food products advertisements. They are saying as many as 60% of all commercials deal with food products, and they're meant to tempt your hunger for them. You may have to steer clear of watching television for these critical times to minimize the risk of your mind from being deluged with one of these cunning enticers.
