Throughout the ages, marketing has been described as one of the most vital corporate processes. Many compromises can be made in a company, but marketing should never be neglected, because it has the potential to raise awareness of a company’s presence on the market, boost sales and generated profit. Although the importance of marketing is something that all people agree on, the best marketing methods vary greatly depending on the context. For many years, promotional marketing and TV advertisements were the go-to choices for managers who want to promote themselves, but today things have changed. Studies show that customers are less and less interested in conventional marketing strategies and they are less likely to try a product seen on TV than they were in the past. Nowadays, companies have to try new innovative strategies, such as experiential marketing, in order to engage the client and create a memorable impression. Experiential marketing agencies can produce creative campaigns that truly make an impact and that make conventional marketing look totally uninteresting. There are many examples that stand out and, unmistakably, most of them were created by global enterprises. They didn’t necessarily require huge budgets, but they all had an innovative idea at the core.

Unlike traditional promotional marketing campaigns, where companies simply hire promotion staff to present their products, experiential marketing engages clients in complex ways. Most of the time, this type of marketing relies on the “wow” factor. For example, TNT made the “Add more drama” experiential campaign, where they placed a button in the middle of a peaceful square where nothing much really happened and once passers-by pressed it, many things started to happen at once. The aim of the campaign was to promote drama TV shows and, even though it cost a lot, it was definitely worth it. Another interesting campaign was initiated by Adidas and involved asking people to try to jump as high as they could and, if they jumped high enough, they could get a pair of Adidas trainers for free. Another campaign that was quite successful without requiring a huge budget was the one started by Milka, where people who bought chocolate with a missing piece could choose to have the missing piece sent back to them or to another person. It was a simple concept, but engaged clients and made them associate the company with positive values. Of course, there are also spectacular examples that take things to the extreme. By far the most extreme campaigns are the ones made by Red Bull, which involve people performing extreme sports and stunts.

No matter what company you can get inspired from global enterprises and work with experiential marketing agencies that can help you promote your products in a unique way. Last, but not least, you should not confuse experiential marketing with sampling events, because they are two different things. For best results, work with a professional agency to develop a creative strategy that is in complete agreement with your brand philosophy and also has the potential to attract new customers.
