The new Ping G30 line of clubs includes new drivers, woods, hybrids and irons. The Ping G30 irons come in 4-iron through 9-iron, pitching wedge, U-wedge, sand wedge and lob wedge.
The irons in the Ping G30 family have thinner clubfaces than previous Ping G25 Irons, helping increase ball speed and giving a boost to launch angle. The progressive offset through the set is designed to increase trajectory in the long irons but provide more control and a more penetrating ball flight in the short irons. The 4- through 7-irons also have slightly longer blade lengths, something that helps make those clubs more forgiving.
There's also a new Custom Tuning Port (CTP) design, positioned low in the sole of the undercut cavity, adding stability to those thin clubfaces and helping produce consistent feel and distance control. The sole has also been tweaked in a couple ways to help the clubhead's turf and rough interactions.
The most visible innovation on the Ping G30 driver is the patented turbulators engineered onto the crown. Inspired by the aeronautics and sporting industries that put a premium on speed, Turbulator Technology reduces aerodynamic drag by significantly delaying airflow separation, maintaining attached airflow around the clubhead as it approaches impact, leading to more speed.
And the G30 driver introduces T9S titanium to the Ping lineup, a material that allows for a thinner clubface and, therefore, frees up weight to help position the center of gravity low and back. An option some golfers will select is the SF Tec clubhead, "SF Tec" standing for "Straight Flight Technology." This head has a lighter swingweight and more weight toward the heel compared the standard G30 driver head, which can help golfers who lose shots to the right improve their accuracy.
Overall, the entire G30 series benefits from new face technologies and materials results in thinner faces and weight savings that help position the CG low and back. Both result in hotter, more forgiving faces.
