I hit a Ping i20 and a Titleist 714 AP1. Both felt great but after reading up a bit, it seems like the AP2 is more comparable to the Ping i20 than the Titleist AP1. I had the 712 Ap2 and recently upgraded to the new titleist ap2 714 irons. They are totally different clubs. I went with the AP2 because for me it was a much more forgiving club. All I can say is see if you can demo both on Trackman or on an outdoor range even better. You want to see the ball flight and what its doing. Now is the perfect time to be fitted. You never want to be fitted in early spring. If you play alot do it now while your swing is still in "mid season form." Trust me. The Ping I20 irons I also was on the fence on. You dont want to be fitted for new clubs early spring when you havent really been playing. The new AP2's are solid. I'm still trying to put down a review of the differences between the old and new models. Need more time. The weight is different on the 714's. It seems much lighter and balanced well. Absent is the industrial grey Guyson finish which is replaced by a non-glare satin chrome finish. This change makes the i20s look cleaner and like every line and curve was perfectly milled. There is also the addition of a black ferrule, first for the i-series, but well known in the PING S-series and PING tour wedges. The ferrules gives it a much less traditional "PING" look and provides a nice flow from clubhead to shaft. Overall, Ping i20 is basically in between the AP2 and AP1 in terms of size. They "slimmed" down the titleist ap1 714 irons, less offset and thinner topline than previous models. I love the new clubs.
