The new X2 Hot golf club family, including driver, irons, fairway wood and Hybrid, have been announced this year. Gibbs said the standard X2 Hot should appeal to the widest cross-section of golfers.
The Callaway X2 Hot driver is purported to be 10 yards longer that its predecessor – the X Hot – thanks to a thinner and lighter titanium face that helps boost ball speeds. The performance of the face has also increase the size of the sweet spot by 10%, offering faster ball speeds and more forgiveness across a wider span of the clubface.
Callaway has also improved the head shape, increased the sweet spot by 10% and introduced Advanced Adjustable Hosel Technology, which allows the golfer to modify loft (-1 – 2 degrees) and bias. In an effort to get the ball launching higher and with less spin, the X2 Hot driver is offered with a Aldila Tour Blue shaft as stock. Optimised for longer distance, the mid torque shaft is said to offer great feel and control.
The new Callaway X2 Hot hybrid looks different from their predecessors. It has a much more boxy face design, a slightly higher profile and slightly larger volume. It features a larger hitting surface, a flatter leading edge and less offset. It also has relieved portions in the heel and toe to make these clubs extremely versatile off a lot of playing conditions.
This hybrid should provide a lot of distance for shots off the sweet spot and should be very forgiving for shots that miss the center of the face. By taking a portion of the club’s weight and moving it low and forward. It not only helps to keep the center of gravity low and flatten the trajectory, it helps to increase the consistency of launch angles and spin rates across the face.
