Feedback from Tour players is an important part of the process in golf club design. All manufacturers listen to the best players in the world and Callaway are no exception. They create a new muscleback iron, combining all the feel and performance. The result? The Apex MB Muscleback Irons. The Apex MB is a classic muscleback blade with a thin top line and a look at address designed to give players the confidence that they can hit any shot required. The Apex MB has the same grooves that Callaway first developed for the Apex Pro Irons. These high performance grooves are widely spaced across the face to bring consistency of spin from all types of lies and across different playing conditions. The sole of the Apex MB has a camber that is designed to optimise the turf interaction at impact across a variety of lies and adds even more playability to the club, enhancing a precision blade to a performance tool fit for purpose at the highest level. The feel and feedback element of bladed irons comes from the premium forging process that creates the Apex MB. From the first swing with the Callaway Apex irons I knew there was something different. They felt soft but the ball jumped of the club face without a lot of effort, especially the long irons. I could hit it high or low, left or right with ease. I was concerned about the extra distance and the gaps that would create so I adjusted the lofts on my wedges and filled the gap. I know the lofts are stronger on the apex irons but that's not a problem once you get use to the extra distance. Apex does everything a players iron does just without beating you up on miss hits. Its been said the gap between player irons and Game improved iron is getting smaller and I believe it now. Everyone has their own preferences for feel and looks and for me the apex looks great, feels even better and the performance speaks for itself, the apex irons are in my bag to stay.
